Description
Book Synopsis: Paths to Recovery -Al-anon's Steps, Traditions, and Concepts was introduced in 1997. Since that time, this in-depth study of our fellowship's three Legacies has provided Al-Anon members and groups throughout the world with an ever-increasing understanding of our fundamental principles. Drawn from the experience, strength, and hope of hundreds of Al-Anon members, Paths to Recovery presents a detailed description of each of the Twelve Steps, Traditions, and Concepts of Service, with guidelines and suggestions for how to apply them to our lives.
This is followed by several personal stories from members, and a series of thought-provoking questions for personal and group use. The companion piece, the Paths to Recovery Workbook, contains all of the questions from the book, as well as space to answer them. It is intended not only as a convenience but also as an additional tool for growth. Several of the Steps encourage us to express ourselves in writing. Although it certainly further clarifies our thoughts, helping us to be more fully honest with ourselves. In addition, as time progresses, what we write can provide us with an extra bonus - it becomes a documented history of our own growth, by which we can more easily measure our progress.
As a member shared in Paths to Recovery, "The Steps show me how to love myself, the Traditions show me how to love others, and the Concepts show me how to love the world I live in."
