Australia & Oceania - How To Make Chamorro Coconut Desserts (How to Make Chamorro Food Cooklets)

Description

Book Synopsis: Buenas, I love Chamorro food. I love the foods we grew up with in Guam. I haven’t been able to stop writing about red rice, poto, kelaguen, and all our other delicious recipes. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, ginen I sen papapa' I kurason-hu, for picking up this Chamorro cooklet. If you’ve been with me on this Chamorro food journey since I started college in 1993, I’m ever grateful. Little did I know that my childhood experiments with cookies and Guam food would lead to a life still wonderfully immersed in the foods of our culture. My first cookbook, A Taste of Guam, was published in 2006. My collective memoir-cookbook, Remember Guam, was published in 2009. I’ve since shared more recipes on PaulaQ.com, with the Guam PDN, on my YouTube channel as Guam Mama Cooks, and across various social media platforms. It’s time I updated my published work to a more harmonic collection.Ergo, my How to Make Chamorro Foodcooklet series. I’m dividing my recipes into smaller booklets, er, cooklets. Each cooklet will have an average of fifteen recipes. The cooklets will include past and present foods that are common in Chamorro households and at Chamorro parties. There will be recipes from old, recipes of new, recipes borrowed from other cultures, and one recipe that's blue. Dishes will be from my cookbooks, my website, and ones I still have in my files that I have yet to post. Previously shared recipes got a formatting facelift though the recipes themselves will not change because they have worked since they were first published. To date, I have eleven cooklets planned, and I will publish each as I finish them. Most recipes have a corresponding video at PaulaQ.com and on my YouTube channel, Guam Mama Cooks. Some videos are from the time before time, during the years of the dinosaur . . . camcorders. They are still of viewing quality, but I am looking forward to updating the videos as fast as my short islander legs can move me.If there was an islander dictionary and you looked up the definition of love, you'd find a picture of a coconut. You want to make a dish tastier? Add coconut or coconut milk. How to Make Chamorro Coconut Desserts is a delectable collection of Chamorro coconut dessert recipes. There are 18 coconut dessert recipes in this cooklet that are loved by Chamorros as well as their friends who have enjoyed Chamorro food at barbecues and parties:Steamed Rice Cupcakes with Rice Flour and Coconut Milk / Poto with Coconut MilkSteamed Rice Cupcakes with Rice Flour and Tuba / Poto with TubaYoung Coconut and Cassava Cake / Cassava CakeCoconut Candy / BukäyuCrunchy Coconut Cookies / GuyuriaChocolate and Coconut Covered DoughnutsIslander Yam Doughnuts / Boñelos DåguCoconut Cream PieYoung Coconut Cream Pie / Månha PieCoconut Rice Pudding / AlåguanCorn Pudding / Kalamai ICorn Pudding / Kalamai IICaramelized Sugar Young Coconut Dumpling Soup / ÅhuCoconut Toddy Syrup / Anibat TubaGrilled Young Coconut and Cassava / Apigige'Young Coconut and Cassava Tamales / Tamåles MendiokaYoung Coconut Dumpling Soup / ÅhuYoung Coconut Tortillas / Månha TitiyasI hope you’ve been enjoying my recipes so far, and I look forward to continuing to write for you.Si Paula
