Description
Book Synopsis: Volume 1-A is a re-edited, re-designed version of the earlier Volume 1 which was printed in 1995. Extensive research has been done on the History of the African-American/Black Jacquet and related families who originated in Louisiana during the 1700's and 1800's and their descendants up to the 21st Century. It is complete with double the amount of new information and plenty of photos of ancestors born as far back as in the late 1840’s. Jacquet ancestry from France has also been researched back to the early 16th Century. After years of travel, countless interviews and research of hundreds of documents, Russell quickly discovered enough to come to this conclusion: “All of the Colored/Negro/Black/African-American people in this country with the last name Jacquet or grandparents with that name are all related because our common ancestor was Jean Baptiste Jacquet, the mixed-race son of a White Frenchman and a Negro Slave Woman!” From Africa and France occurred the journey of these great ancestors to a land that was not yet Louisiana. A land that was not yet America and a land that was not yet free for all. Russell now shares his findings of that research on how that story came to be and how our ancestors overcame the struggles to become successful American citizens while preserving their family history. Genealogy is a never-ending work that is on-going as there is always more to discover about our history. Read on so that you can pass on this valuable family history to your children and grandchildren. This Volume 1-A contains 58 photos of family members and original documents. This Volume 1-A contains a complete FAMILY NAME INDEX of over 2,000 names in this book alone! Later volumes of the Book Series will include the unique 700-names Louisiana slave index that was in the earlier volume 2.
