Babysitting, Day Care & Child Care - THE ADVENTURES OF THE TOPPLEY SWEEPS: THE IMAGINARY ADVENTURES OF THE TOPPLEY SWEEPS

Description

Book Synopsis: THE ADVENTURES OF THE TOPPLEY SWEEPSThe adventures of the Toppley Sweeps are about children cleaning up behind themselves. The babysitter was on her way out to be with her friends when Mrs. Grant informed Deja that she and her sister were going out. Mrs. Grant gave her instruction on babysitting the four children Deja had all intentions of keeping the house clean, but the children had other plans. The children gave Deja a very hard time, they made a mess in every room in the house. After what seemed like a full day of chasing, falling, and trying to keep up with the four children. There was a food fight during their lunchtime, Deja remembered the days when there was a food fight in her school when she was younger. Deja lost the fight. Later in the story, I mention the fact that Jason one of the children has Autism, Jason's mind works at top speed, and he goes through changes so the family does their best to keep him calm. His grandfather calls him quick because Jason can create a mess in two rooms before you can clean up the last mess in the last room. The children made such a mess that Deja has had enough. She sent the children upstairs to wash up before bed. Jason never went to sleep, he was thinking about building a wagon that carries around all the cleaning equipment. Jason build a wagon out of all the stuff he saw during the day.

The next morning Deja is cooking breakfast for her and the children when all of a sudden four children come downstairs wearing uniforms. Dejay was shocked at the sight of these children's uniforms, Deja ran out of the room as fast as she could. The children knocked on the door saying Deja don't cry this is our cleaning up uniforms, we are the Toppley Sweeps. We clean up the houses and apartments we live in. Just then the door swings open and Deja is standing in the doorway like a superhero, her hands on her hips, Deja had a uniform of her own, this time the children were shocked. Deja made a chart before going to sleep. Deja had the children read out loud from the chart about the times and the rooms to be cleaned up.

The next story begins with a little girl named Tamia, Early in the morning; Tamia came downstairs to see if her mother was in the kitchen starting breakfast. Tamia stopped behind one of the chairs in the kitchen, she tried to stand very still. There was a baby bear in the refrigerator gathering food from Mrs. Jones's home. You see; the baby bear got lost and forgot where her mother made her stay, the baby bear got hungry. When she couldn't find her mother she went to find something to eat. The baby bear saw a house with no lights on, as she walked closer she saw a small supermarket shopping cart. She found a crate and stood on it to get in the window that was slightly opened. She went inside and opened the front door to bring in the shopping cart. Tamia was very still as the baby bear filled up the cart with Tamia's family food. Tamia waited until the bear left, then she ran to get her brothers. Everyone was sleeping, Tamia shouted, then grabbed her brother De'marcus by the hand and zoomed to the kitchen. She showed them the mess that the little bear made. Her brothers and cousin didn't believe her. Mrs. Jones came to the kitchen and asked who did this? Tamia said a baby bear did it. Mrs. Jones told the other children to go back to bed. Tamia tried to tell her mother the story again, but her mother stopped her and said; I see the little baby bear footprints going out of the door. I believe you, my dear. The next night the baby bear came back, this time Mrs. and Mr. Jones were ready. They let Tamia sleep in the room with them tonight. It was late in the night when the light from the refrigerator came on, it brightened up the kitchen. The baby bear made a noise, it sounded like the little bear was happy putting food in the shopping bag to take home. Mrs. Jones turned on the light and made the bear clean up the mess.
